On Macs, when we want to reach the detailed information of any file, folder, or application, we use the ⌘ + i key combination. Or instead of using the shortcut, you can right-click on the relevant document and issue the Get Info command (Bilgi Ver on the Turkish system). As a result of this, a window opens and you can see the details about the item you want to get information on. You don’t only see details — you can also do some basic operations. For example, under the Sharing & Permissions section, you can edit the sharing settings for that file. Or under the Open With section, you can determine which application that document can be opened with.
If you select more than one file at the same time and then use the ⌘ + i key combination, it will show each file’s information on a separate screen. But you may want to get the total information of, say, the 4 documents you selected. This is exactly what the Inspector is for. After selecting the more-than-one files whose information you want to get, if you press the Option ⌥ key on the keyboard and right-click on the document, you can see that the Get Info command turns into the Show Inspector command. When you issue this command, you can get the total information of, say, the 4 separate documents you selected on your computer.
If these documents you selected are documents of a similar type and there is an application that can open all of them in common, you can see its name in the Open With window. Because I selected one TXT document, two image documents in PNG format, and one PDF document, it saw the Adobe Illustrator application installed on my computer as an application that can open all of these files and recommended it to me.
If you look at the top part of the window that opens, you can see that 4 items are selected and their total size. While the Inspector window is open, if you click on the desktop, for example, you can see the desktop’s information instead of the information of the 4 documents you previously selected. Whichever item or items you select, the Inspector window will dynamically give you their information.
