First you made Will Smith eat pasta, then you had it write a poem for your ex and even asked it to compose that poem, you generated images, you designed automations.
Now it’s time to use artificial intelligence in Apple device management. Almost every MDM solution incorporates an AI module within itself. By chatting with this smart assistant, you can easily handle certain operations.
As you know, Apple determines how and in what manner different devices will be managed through the MDM protocol. And it makes various updates to this list throughout the year — the biggest being when operating systems receive major updates. You can review this rule book, that is, the Platform Deployment guide, at this address.
Apple does publish its rule book, sure, but each MDM vendor has its own schedule and priorities. Therefore, they may not immediately support every feature specified in the Platform Deployment guide on the day Apple’s operating systems are released. When this is the case, you may find yourself having to increase the capacity of the MDM solution your organization has chosen with various additions.
You mostly do this by writing scripts or editing .plist files. Yes, of course you can easily have ChatGPT or Claude write a bash script for you. But if our MDM product already has an AI assistant for this job, why should we have to go to another product?
To try out Genie, the AI assistant within Hexnode UEM, which I recently started examining, I had it write a few pieces of code. They all ran successfully. Then, overstepping a bit, I stopped writing in English and tried writing in Turkish-my mother language, and it responded immediately.
Not only can it write, but you can also have this script it created automatically saved to the MDM’s Script Editor screen and send it to the devices you manage in real time.
Of course, Hexnode is not alone in this regard. There is Kandji‘s KAI, Jamf‘s Claude-based AI Assistant, and Intune‘s Copilot. Although some are in their infancy for now, over time they will help you with many operations you can perform on an MDM server.
